Senior Analog/Mixed Signal IC Layout Engineer
Analog DevicesJob Title
Senior Analog/Mixed Signal IC Layout Engineer
Role Summary
Engineer responsible for full-custom analog and mixed-signal IC layout for data center and energy products within the Data Center & Energy (DCE) group. Work focuses on precision technologies such as ADCs, DACs, references, amplifiers, and switches.
Position is based in Edinburgh, Scotland or Limerick, Ireland and involves collaborating with circuit designers, foundry, assembly, reliability and failure analysis teams to deliver tapeout-ready layouts that meet performance and quality targets.
Experience Level
Senior level. Ideally 3+ years of full‑custom IC layout experience specializing in analog/mixed‑signal; demonstrated ownership of large layout blocks and tapeout delivery.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include ownership of layout delivery and cross-team coordination.
- Own layout of large-scale analog/digital sub-blocks: scheduling, floorplanning, verification and tapeout.
- Collaborate with circuit design, foundry, assembly, reliability, and failure analysis to meet product performance and quality targets.
- Implement standard layout practices: matching, parasitics mitigation, noise/shielding, supply routing, latch-up and ESD protection.
- Debug and interpret layout verification results (LVS/DRC/ANTENNA) and resolve issues to meet signoff requirements.
- Plan tasks, generate reports, and communicate progress within a global team.
- Support tapeout readiness and post-tapeout follow-up as required.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Must-have: Strong knowledge of full-custom analog/mixed-signal layout techniques and practical problem solving.
- Must-have: Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso and VXL.
- Must-have: High proficiency interpreting and debugging LVS/DRC/ANTENNA and other verification results.
- Must-have: Expertise in layout matching, parasitic-aware design, noise mitigation, shielding, supply planning, latch-up and ESD considerations.
- Must-have: Good planning, organizational and interpersonal communication skills; ability to work in a global team.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with deep-submicron technologies (FinFET).
- Nice-to-have: Experience with precision analog circuits (amplifiers, voltage references, current mirrors).
- Other: Travel required ~10%.
Education Requirements
Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or equivalent; equivalent practical experience acceptable. (Source lists "Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent".)
