Job Title

Senior Analog / Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and deliver high-performance analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits from architecture through transistor-level design, tapeout, and silicon validation. The role includes circuit design, system-level modeling, post-layout sign-off, and lab bring-up for products used in silicon photonics-based quantum systems.

This position has significant ownership of deliverables and requires close collaboration with layout, digital, verification, and test teams.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting does not specify minimum years of experience; the title indicates a senior engineer with substantial independent design and tapeout experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include architecture, circuit design, verification, and silicon bring-up.

  • Design and develop analog and mixed-signal blocks: ADC/DAC, amplifiers (LNA, TIA, op-amps), bandgap references, bias circuits, and regulators.
  • Define system architecture and perform trade-offs across noise, linearity, power, area, and bandwidth.
  • Perform transistor-level design, simulation, optimization, and post-layout sign-off (PVT, Monte Carlo, corner analysis).
  • Develop behavioral models (Verilog-A / SystemVerilog RNM) for system-level verification and exploration.
  • Collaborate with layout and verification teams for parasitic-aware design and robust mixed-signal integration.
  • Drive silicon bring-up, debug, and lab characterization; produce clear design documentation and participate in design reviews.
  • Manage design iterations, simulations, and analysis results; take ownership to deliver on tight timelines.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience required for effective performance in this role.

  • Strong fundamentals in analog circuit design and device physics.
  • Proven track record of designing and taping out analog or mixed-signal ICs.
  • Expertise in CMOS or SiGe design across one or more process nodes.
  • Proficiency with SPICE-based simulation tools (e.g., Spectre, HSPICE).
  • Deep understanding of noise, mismatch, stability, and nonlinearity.
  • Ability to design from first principles and solve complex circuit problems.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage corners, Monte Carlo, and large design spaces.
  • Demonstrated ownership mindset and ability to deliver high-quality results under tight schedules.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with data converters, RF/analog front-ends, or high-speed interfaces.
  • Experience with advanced process nodes (FinFET or beyond) and mature nodes.
  • Hands-on silicon validation, lab debugging, layout, and tapeout experience.
  • Familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso and behavioral modeling in Verilog-A or SystemVerilog RNM.

Education Requirements

MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field (as stated in the posting).
