Job Title

Senior Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)

Role Summary

Work on analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for high-speed optical transceivers (100G–1T) used in data center and telecom networks. The role spans architecture, circuit design, layout, measurement and productization for ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS ASIC blocks.

This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week on-site in San Jose, CA; the position collaborates with digital/DSP, system, package, and module teams to meet system-level signal and power integrity requirements.

Experience Level

Senior-level. See Education Requirements for the degree and years-of-experience combinations required for this role.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on end-to-end AMS IC block delivery and cross-discipline collaboration.

  • Architect, design, layout, measure and productize ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS analog/mixed-signal IC blocks for optical transceivers.
  • Lead large-block design efforts, mentor junior engineers, track schedules and deliverables, and conduct peer reviews from concept through production.
  • Collaborate with packaging, hardware, digital/DSP and system teams to ensure signal and power integrity and meet module-level specifications.
  • Develop and validate high-speed AMS circuits and drive design-for-manufacturability and production test flows.

Requirements

Technical must-haves and preferred skills. Degree and years guidance are listed under Education Requirements.

  • Must-have: Hands-on experience designing, simulating and measuring high-speed ICs covering at least three of the following areas: serializers/deserializers, data converters, voltage regulators, output drivers, phase-locked loops (PLLs), clock transmission/propagation, op amps, programmable gain amplifiers, equalization.
  • Must-have: Proven high-speed analog layout and mixed-signal floorplanning experience (power/ground planning, analog/digital partitioning).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with FinFET process technologies and high-frequency passive component design (inductors, transformers, transmission lines).
  • Nice-to-have: Custom transistor layout, ESD laboratory practices, and experience designing for manufacturability.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, MATLAB, EMX and mixed-signal AMS simulation flows.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with 12+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 8+ years, or a PhD with 5+ years of relevant experience — or equivalent practical experience. Typical fields include Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or other related technical disciplines. No specific certifications are required.
