Job Title
Senior Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer β Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Hybrid role based in San Jose, CA (three days per week on-site). Member of the mixed-signal IC design group responsible for architecting, designing, laying out, measuring and productizing high-speed CMOS analog and mixed-signal circuits for optical transceivers deployed in data center and telecommunications networks.
The position collaborates with digital/DSP, system, package and module teams to integrate analog blocks into complex ASICs and meet system-level signal and power integrity targets.
Experience Level
Senior β this is a senior engineering role (see Education Requirements for degree-and-years guidance).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Architect, design, layout, verify and productize ultra-deep-submicron CMOS analog/mixed-signal blocks for optical transceivers.
- Lead large blocks on complex chips, mentor team members, track deliverables and participate in peer design reviews.
- Develop high-speed AMS circuits (serial links, data converters, PLLs, equalizers, output drivers, etc.) and establish robust design methodology from concept to production.
- Coordinate with packaging and hardware teams to ensure signal and power integrity specifications are met.
- Perform lab measurements, prototype validation, debug, and support manufacturability and test planning.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Design, simulation and measurement experience with high-speed ICs in at least three of the following areas: serializers/deserializers, data converters, voltage regulators, output drivers, phase-locked loops, clock transmission/propagation, op amps, programmable gain amplifiers, and equalization.
- Experience with mixed-signal simulations and tools such as Cadence Virtuoso and Spectre/APS/SpectreX (or equivalent) and familiarity with AMS simulation flows.
- Hands-on lab measurement and validation experience for high-speed transceivers.
- Proven ability to lead complex design efforts, document designs, and mentor junior engineers.
- Preferred: experience with electrical transceiver applications (backplane/cable), FinFET technology, high-frequency layout and passive component design (inductors, transformers, transmission lines), floorplanning, custom transistor layout, design-for-manufacturability, ESD laboratory practices, Matlab and EMX.
Education Requirements
BSEE with 12+ years of experience, or MS with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years, or equivalent practical experience.
