Job Title
Senior Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Design and productize high-speed analog and mixed-signal CMOS ICs for optical transceivers used in data center and telecom networks. Work within the Acacia mixed-signal IC design group and coordinate with digital/DSP, system, package, and module teams to deliver production-quality transceiver chips.
Experience Level
Senior-level. This role requires substantial, hands-on experience designing high-speed analog/mixed-signal integrated circuits.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on full-cycle analog/mixed-signal block delivery for complex chips and cross-discipline collaboration.
- Architect, design, lay out, and validate ultra-deep-submicron CMOS analog/mixed-signal circuits for optical transceivers.
- Lead a large block on complex chips, manage deliverables, and participate in peer reviews.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers on design methodology and implementation.
- Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity targets.
- Develop and refine measurement plans and help transition designs from prototype to production.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience relevant to high-speed AMS IC design. (Degree and years-of-experience details are summarized under Education Requirements.)
- Hands-on design, simulation, and measurement experience with high-speed ICs in at least three areas such as: high-speed serial links (SERDES), data converters, phase-locked loops (PLLs), clock distribution/propagation, voltage regulators, output drivers, op-amps, programmable gain amplifiers, and equalization.
- Proven ability to take AMS designs from concept through layout and measurement to production.
- Strong skills in high-speed analog circuit design and test methodology.
- Experience collaborating across digital, package, and system teams to meet system-level specifications.
Nice-to-have / Preferred:
- Experience with electrical transceiver applications (backplane and cable communications).
- Experience with FinFET technologies and high-frequency layout (passives, transmission lines, inductors, transformers).
- Floorplanning, custom transistor layout, and designing for manufacturability.
- ESD laboratory practices and mixed-signal simulation experience (AMS).
- Familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, Matlab, EMX, and similar toolchains.
Education Requirements
Degree and experience combinations specified by the employer: B.S. in Electrical Engineering with ~12+ years of related experience, M.S. with ~8+ years, or Ph.D. with ~5+ years, or equivalent practical experience. Fields referenced: Electrical Engineering and related technical disciplines. No specific certifications were required.
