Job Title
Senior Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia (Hybrid)
Role Summary
Work in the Mixed-Signal IC design group for Acacia to architect, design, layout, measure and productize ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS analog and mixed-signal circuits for high-speed optical transceivers (100G–1T).
The role leads large-block analog/mixed-signal design efforts, coordinates with digital/DSP, package and system teams, and ensures designs meet signal and power integrity and production requirements.
Experience Level
Senior. This is a leadership-level IC design role requiring substantial relevant experience; see Education Requirements for degree-specific experience equivalencies.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on end-to-end analog/mixed-signal block delivery from conception through production.
- Architect, design, simulate, lay out, and validate high-speed AMS circuits and blocks targeted for CMOS process technologies.
- Lead large-block design efforts, mentor engineers, and track project deliverables and schedules.
- Perform silicon bring-up, measurements, and iterative debug to meet specification and production goals.
- Collaborate with digital/DSP, package, system and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity requirements.
- Participate in peer reviews and establish robust design methodology and documentation for production.
Requirements
Must-have practical skills and experience for the role.
- Proven design, simulation and measurement experience with high-speed ICs; practical experience across multiple areas such as serializers/deserializers, data converters, voltage regulators, output drivers, PLLs, clock distribution, op amps, programmable gain amplifiers, and equalization.
- Experience with high-speed serial link and transceiver architectures and analog front-end design for optical or backplane/cable communications.
- Strong custom transistor layout and high-frequency layout experience, including passive components and transmission-line structures.
- Experience with floorplanning for mixed-signal chips (power/ground, analog/digital segregation) and designing for manufacturability.
- Experience with mixed-signal simulations (AMS) and familiarity with common IC design toolflows; knowledge of Cadence/Virtuoso and Spectre family, Matlab, and EMX is a plus.
- Experience with silicon bring-up, measurement lab practices (including ESD methodology), and production readiness.
- Proven leadership: mentoring, leading complex designs, and delivering against schedules.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with FinFET technologies.
- Prior work on packaging, signal/power integrity, and ESD considerations for transceivers.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with ~12+ years' relevant experience, or Master’s degree with ~8+ years, or PhD with ~5+ years, or equivalent practical experience. Fields referenced include Electrical/Analog/Mixed-Signal IC design and related technical areas.
