Job Title
Senior Analog/Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia
Role Summary
Design and productize ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS analog and mixed-signal circuits for high-speed optical transceivers. Work within the mixed-signal IC design group on high-speed (≈25 Gb/s and above) and high-accuracy designs that integrate into ASICs for data center and telecom applications.
The role leads complex block design efforts, collaborates with digital/DSP, package, hardware and system teams, and helps move designs from concept through production.
Experience Level
Senior. Typical experience ranges depend on academic background (see Education Requirements) but expect senior-level responsibility managing large blocks, mentoring engineers, and driving deliverables across multiple design phases.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership of analog/mixed-signal IC blocks and hands-on design work:
- Architect, design, layout, measure and productize analog/mixed-signal CMOS ICs for high-speed optical transceivers.
- Lead large block designs, mentor junior engineers, manage deliverables and participate in peer reviews.
- Collaborate with packaging, hardware and system teams to meet signal and power integrity requirements.
- Develop high-speed AMS circuits, run simulations and lab measurements, and drive designs to production readiness.
- Establish and follow robust design methodology from conception through tape-out and validation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Proven experience designing, simulating and measuring high-speed ICs across multiple areas such as high-speed serial links (SERDES), data converters, PLLs/clocking, output drivers, voltage regulators, op-amps, programmable gain amplifiers, and equalizers.
- Hands-on analog/mixed-signal circuit development for high-speed transceiver applications and productization experience (conception to production).
- Practical experience with mixed-signal simulation and verification (AMS flows) and lab measurement/validation techniques.
- Ability to lead complex IC design blocks, mentor team members, and coordinate cross-functional integration (digital/DSP, packaging, module design).
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with FinFET technology and high-frequency/custom transistor layout.
- Passive/high-frequency layout (inductors, transformers, transmission lines) and floorplanning experience (power/ground, analog/digital partitioning).
- Design-for-manufacturability and ESD lab practices experience.
- Familiarity with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX, Matlab, EMX and AMS mixed-signal simulation flows.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with ~12+ years experience, Master’s (MS) with ~8+ years, or PhD with ~5+ years of relevant experience — or equivalent practical experience. (The posting explicitly allows equivalent experience in lieu of the listed degrees.)
