Job Title

Senior Analog/mixed-signal IC Design Engineer - Acacia

Role Summary

Work in the Mixed-signal IC design group to architect, design, layout, measure and productize ultra-deep sub-micron CMOS analog and mixed-signal circuits for optical transceivers (100G–1T). The team collaborates with digital/DSP, system, package and module teams to integrate AMS blocks into ASICs. This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week in the San Jose, CA office.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires significant industry experience and technical leadership; see Education Requirements for experience-equivalency details.

Responsibilities

Lead and deliver complex mixed-signal IC blocks from concept through production. Key responsibilities include:

  • Architect, design, simulate and layout high-speed analog and mixed-signal circuits.
  • Lead a large block on complex chips, mentor team members, and track engineering deliverables.
  • Participate in peer design reviews and establish robust design methodology from conception to production.
  • Collaborate with packaging and hardware teams to meet signal and power integrity requirements.
  • Plan for manufacturability and support silicon bring-up, laboratory characterization, and qualification.

Requirements

Must-have:

  • Proven design, simulation and measurement experience of high-speed ICs across multiple areas (serial links, serializers/deserializers, data converters, PLLs, output drivers, voltage regulators, op-amps, PGAs, clock distribution and equalization).
  • Hands-on silicon characterization and mixed-signal (AMS) simulation experience.
  • Strong layout and floorplanning skills, including power/ground planning and analog/digital separation.
  • Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/APS/SpectreX and Matlab or equivalent tools.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with FinFET technologies and high-frequency passive components (inductors, transformers, transmission lines).
  • Custom transistor layout, ESD laboratory practices, and EM simulation experience (EMX or similar).
  • Experience designing for manufacturability and transceiver/backplane/cable communication applications.

Education Requirements

Minimum: BSEE with 12+ years of relevant experience, or MS with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years, or equivalent practical experience. Field: Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical discipline; equivalent experience accepted.

Compensation

U.S./Canada starting salary range listed: $191,400 to $281,400 (base pay range for these locations; does not include incentive pay, equity or benefits). Individual pay varies by location, experience and other factors.
