Senior Analog/Mixed Signal Engineer

Role Summary

Design and implement analog and mixed-signal circuit building blocks for Extropic's thermodynamic computing chips. Work across architecture, schematic, layout and tape-out, and support lab validation within a small, cross-functional engineering team.

Opportunity to work on probabilistic/thermodynamic computing circuits in a fast-moving startup environment.

Experience Level

Senior - typically 3–5 years of analog/mixed-signal IC design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Design analog/mixed-signal blocks (ADCs, PLLs, bandgaps, regulators, oscillators, high-speed dividers, SerDes).
• Own block-level design from architecture and schematic through layout and tape-out verification (DRC, ERC, LVS).
• Perform hands-on Cadence simulation (PEX, Monte Carlo, corner analysis).
• Execute layout and prepare designs for tape-out.
• Support lab testing and validation of mixed-signal circuits.
• Collaborate with IC, systems, physics and algorithms teams to integrate thermodynamic sampling units into silicon.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and skills:

• 3–5 years analog/mixed-signal IC design experience.
• Block-level design experience through tape-out.
• Cadence Virtuoso layout and simulation experience (PEX, Monte Carlo, corner analysis).
• CMOS process experience (FinFET, 28nm, 65nm).
• Laboratory validation and test skills for mixed-signal circuits.
• Ability to work on a hybrid schedule (3 days/week) in Boston, MA.
• Proficiency with Python and C for test and automation.
• Eligible to work in the U.S.; Extropic supports H-1B and TN transfers and new sponsorship.
