Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical guidance: 2 years post-Ph.D. or 5 years post-M.S. of professional analog/mixed-signal IC design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities cover the full ASIC development cycle from specification through silicon validation.
- Lead design and development of analog, RF, and mixed-signal ASICs from concept through silicon validation.
- Develop system architectures, ASIC specifications, and circuit implementations based on application requirements.
- Design high-performance analog and RF building blocks such as low-noise amplifiers and data converters.
- Create behavioral models and simulation environments to support mixed-signal verification.
- Perform transistor-level circuit design, simulation, optimization, and post-layout verification using EDA tools.
- Develop custom IC layouts and perform physical verification (DRC/LVS) and extraction.
- Collaborate with digital designers, system engineers, and stakeholders to integrate mixed-signal solutions.
- Develop ASIC test plans, support device characterization, and debug silicon with test engineering teams.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on ASIC projects.
- Prepare technical documentation and contribute to proposals, publications, and presentations.
- Evaluate and adopt emerging semiconductor technologies and design methodologies.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience (formal degree requirements are summarized under Education Requirements).
- Strong knowledge of analog CMOS integrated circuit design principles and transistor-level design.
- Experience with mixed-signal and RF ASIC design and system integration.
- Experience with IC layout, post-layout extraction, and physical verification (DRC/LVS).
- Proficiency with industry-standard IC design tools (for example, Cadence Virtuoso) and mixed-signal simulation tools.
- Ability to develop behavioral models and simulation environments for verification.
- Experience developing ASIC test plans and characterizing fabricated devices; silicon debug skills.
- Understanding of semiconductor device physics and analog circuit behavior.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills; clear technical communication and mentoring ability.
Education Requirements
Ph.D. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or Physics. The posting specifies 2 years of professional experience for Ph.D. holders or 5 years for M.S. holders. No certifications or explicit equivalent-experience language were stated.
