Senior Analog and Mixed Signal Engineer
Nordic SemiconductorJob Title
Senior Analog and Mixed Signal Engineer
Role Summary
The Senior Analog and Mixed Signal Engineer will develop transistor-level CMOS analog and mixed-signal circuits and subsystems for SoC Wi‑Fi products. The role covers architecture, schematic-level design, verification, integration, and collaboration with digital, verification and layout teams.
Position sits in the BU Wi‑Fi SoC Group with openings in Stockholm, Lund (Sweden) and Bristol (UK); you will own designs through implementation and chip integration to deliver robust products.
Experience Level
Senior - minimum seven years of hands-on experience in analog and mixed-signal IC design, simulation, and verification.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design ownership, simulation/verification, and cross-discipline integration.
- Design and develop high-performance analog and mixed-signal circuits at transistor level, balancing power, performance, area, robustness, and reliability.
- Translate system requirements into circuit architectures, technical specifications, and verified module- and subsystem-level implementations.
- Own or lead designs through schematic development, block- and top-level simulation, design reviews, and post-layout verification.
- Define simulation and verification strategies for analog and mixed-signal functions across the design cycle.
- Integrate analog IP into larger chip-level designs and ensure correct analog/digital interfaces and system-level performance.
- Collaborate with layout and physical-design engineers on floorplanning, parasitic-aware design, and implementation trade-offs.
- Contribute to improvement of design methodologies, workflows, and engineering best practices.
- Document design decisions, assumptions, verification results, and technical risks; communicate clearly to stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience to perform independently at a senior level.
- Must-have: At least seven years of hands-on experience in analog and mixed-signal IC design, simulation, and verification.
- Must-have: Deep understanding of CMOS transistors and analog circuits, including circuit analysis, feedback, noise, mismatch, stability, and PVT effects.
- Must-have: Extensive experience with pre-layout and post-layout transistor-level simulation across process, voltage, temperature, mismatch, and noise conditions.
- Must-have: Strong independent problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills; ability to drive solutions to completion.
- Must-have: Demonstrated ability to integrate analog IP into system-level designs and collaborate across analog, digital, verification, and layout disciplines.
- Must-have: Excellent interpersonal and written/spoken English communication skills.
- Nice-to-have: Experience leading multi-discipline design teams and contributing to design-methodology improvements.
Education Requirements
Master's degree or PhD in electrical engineering, microelectronics, physics, or a related science or engineering discipline (as stated in the posting).
