Job Title

Senior AI SoC Design Engineer

Role Summary

Lead architecture and end-to-end design of complex AI system-on-chip (SoC) subsystems, driving microarchitecture, RTL implementation, integration, and silicon bring-up. Work in a cross-functional product team to deliver high-performance, power-efficient silicon for AI workloads.

Experience Level

Senior technical leadership role requiring substantial industry experience and demonstrated delivery of complex silicon products.

Responsibilities

Accountable for subsystem architecture, design quality, and cross-team execution. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Own architecture and end-to-end design of complex SoC subsystems from concept through silicon bring-up.
  • Define microarchitecture and drive RTL design, coding, and simulation.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration across architecture, design, verification, physical design, firmware, and validation teams.
  • Drive system-level power, performance, and area (PPA) trade-offs across multiple IPs and subsystems.
  • Ensure design robustness including clock/reset management, power domain crossings, timing-closure strategy, and silicon readiness.
  • Influence technical direction, design methodologies, and execution across teams and product generations.
  • Mentor senior engineers and provide technical leadership across organizations.
  • Participate in post-silicon debug and resolution of complex system-level issues.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Proven ownership and delivery of complex SoC subsystems or full-chip designs from architecture through silicon bring-up.
  • Deep expertise in RTL design, coding, and simulation using SystemVerilog.
  • Strong microarchitecture and SoC architecture experience with measurable product impact.
  • System-level design expertise, including making PPA trade-offs across subsystems.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving execution across multiple engineering domains.

Preferred:

  • Experience defining or influencing SoC/platform architecture across multiple product generations.
  • Understanding of AI/ML workloads and their hardware implications.
  • Track record of innovation in microarchitecture or SoC design.
  • Experience with post-silicon debug and resolving complex system issues.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and align distributed teams.

Education Requirements

Minimum qualifications tied to experience level: 12+ years with a Bachelor's degree, 10+ years with a Master's degree, or 8+ years with a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent advanced academic research or significant industry experience may be considered.
