Job Title

Senior AI/ML Engineer, DRAM Technology Modeling

Role Summary

Join Micron's Advanced Modeling and Artificial Intelligence Solutions (AMAIS) team to develop model-informed solutions for DRAM technology development. The role focuses on building composite and virtual process models that connect process conditions to metrology, defectivity, electrical, and yield outcomes.

The engineer will collaborate with Process, Process Integration, and Product Engineering teams to enable process optimization, yield improvement, and faster learning through AI/ML-driven modeling and automated workflows.

Experience Level

Senior-level. This role expects demonstrated, multi-year experience applying AI/ML and statistical modeling to engineering or physical systems; see Education Requirements for degree and experience specifics.

Responsibilities

The core responsibilities include developing predictive models, integrating them with fab data, and translating results into actionable insights for engineering teams.

  • Develop composite models and Virtual Process Models linking process conditions to inline metrology, defectivity, electrical, and yield outcomes across wafer and die metrics.
  • Apply AI/ML and computational techniques to train robust models from sparse and high-dimensional datasets, capturing nonlinear interactions.
  • Design smart DOEs, perform sensitivity analyses and response modeling to accelerate process learning and enable model-informed optimization and control.
  • Integrate modeling workflows with fab data, SPC, and reporting systems to support closed-loop learning and automation.
  • Extract and communicate predictive insights from models and data to engineering teams and leaders to drive prompt action on yield opportunities.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required for success in this role; preferred items listed separately.

  • Must-have: Strong foundation in statistics, numerical methods, scientific computing, and advanced modeling techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in statistical modeling, ML-based process modeling, DOE optimization, or yield analytics applied to engineering or physical systems.
  • Experience applying AI/ML algorithms in engineering contexts and working with sparse or high-dimensional datasets.
  • Ability to integrate models with production data systems and convey technical results clearly to engineering stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience in memory or semiconductor manufacturing; prior Process or Process Integration engineering experience; familiarity with DRAM fabrication, inline metrology, and yield analysis workflows; experience with SPC, automated reporting, or agentic AI/automation frameworks in manufacturing.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree with 5+ years, Master's degree with 3+ years, or PhD (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Applied Sciences, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
