Semiconductor Test Strategy Expert

Role Summary

Lead the definition and deployment of global semiconductor test standards and supplier test strategies across R&D, Purchasing and Manufacturing. Act as the technical authority during sourcing and supplier governance to ensure zero-defect delivery for automotive vehicle architectures.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires 10+ years in semiconductor product/test engineering or quality, preferably within an automotive Tier‑1, IDM or foundry environment.

Responsibilities

The role combines technical leadership, supplier assessment, and failure-analysis ownership.

  • Define and maintain global standards for semiconductor test coverage and quality.
  • Drive cross‑functional integration of test standards across R&D, Purchasing and Manufacturing.
  • Provide technical authority for sourcing decisions on SoCs, MCUs, ASICs and power modules; challenge supplier claims during RFQs.
  • Perform deep technical audits of supplier test methodologies with emphasis on DFT and fault coverage.
  • Lead failure‑analysis task forces (8D) on high‑impact semiconductor failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote advanced screening and statistical detection methods to eliminate latent defects.
  • Translate technical risks into business‑level recommendations for executive stakeholders.

Requirements

Key must-have skills and relevant experience; concise list of preferred extras below.

  • Must-have: 10+ years in semiconductor industry in product/test engineering or quality, with experience in automotive Tier‑1, IDM or foundry environments.
  • Must-have: Deep knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing, Design for Test (DFT) and failure mechanisms.
  • Must-have: Proven experience running supplier technical audits and supporting RFQ/sourcing decisions.
  • Must-have: Proficiency with automotive quality and safety standards (AEC‑Q100/101/200, ISO 26262, IATF 16949) and statistical data analysis methods.
  • Must-have: Strong leadership, negotiation and stakeholder management skills; experience leading 8D/problem‑solving teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Hands‑on experience with advanced screening methods (Outlier Detection, Part Average Testing), SYL/SBL or equivalent statistical screening techniques.
  • Nice-to-have: Practical experience selecting and validating SoCs/MCUs/ASICs and power modules with suppliers.
