Job Title

Semiconductor Process Engineer - Photo

Role Summary

Join Micron's Technology Development organization as a Photolithography (Photo) Process Engineer focused on Low and High NA EUV lithography for advanced memory technologies. The role involves hands-on development and integration of lithography unit processes, working with tools, materials, layouts, and data to move innovations from R&D into manufacturing.

The position is based at the NYCreates site in Albany, NY and partners with cross-functional teams in Boise, Hiroshima, suppliers, and equipment vendors to enable Micron's technology roadmap and improve device performance, yield, and cost.

Experience Level

Level: Mid-level. Typically requires multiple years of semiconductor photolithography or process-development experience; postings indicate experience expectations around 3+ years for candidates without advanced degrees.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Develop and integrate photolithography unit processes for advanced memory technologies.
  • Perform material evaluations, reticle and layout development, optical proximity correction (OPC), overlay optimization, and process window analysis.
  • Drive yield improvement, conduct failure analysis, and optimize device performance.
  • Partner with equipment vendors to evaluate tools and improve process capability.
  • Document process definitions, communicate technical results, and support technology transfer to manufacturing.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred technical skills and experience.

  • Must-have: Practical experience in photolithography or semiconductor process development and integration; familiarity with process characterization, data analysis, and statistical methods; ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional technical teams.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with material evaluations, reticle/layout development, OPC, overlay optimization, or process window analysis.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with advanced lithography techniques (High NA EUV), OPC workflows, overlay optimization for advanced nodes.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing or working with semiconductor equipment vendors and R&D environments.

Education Requirements

Preferred: M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or another technical/engineering field relevant to photolithography and process development. Candidates with a B.S. plus 3+ years of semiconductor processing experience with emphasis on lithography will also be considered (equivalent practical experience accepted).
