Role Summary

The Semiconductor Functional Safety Design Engineer will join the Automotive and Industrial Power team, focusing on functional safety in semiconductor chip development for automotive and industrial markets. The role involves leading teams in defining functional safety products and systems, while tackling innovative projects.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyze and define functional safety requirements for semiconductor products.
  • Develop the Functional Safety Concept (FSC) and Technical Safety Concept (TSC).
  • Specify hardware and software safety requirements in compliance with ISO 26262 & IEC 61508.
  • Collaborate with design teams for effective technical solutions to achieve safe product designs.
  • Lead safety analysis activities like FMEAs, FTAs, and other safety methods.
  • Support safety verification and validation activities, including fault injection testing.
  • Generate necessary functional safety work products in alignment with ISO 26262.
  • Participate in customer reviews addressing functional safety work products.
  • Document safety activities within project timelines adhering to safety plans.
  • Assist design engineers with impact analyses and safety compliance.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications:

  • Master's preferred or bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5-8 years in semiconductor design, verification, or testing.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 26262 and automotive principles.
  • 2+ years of functional safety experience.
  • Experience in creating safety documents such as Safety Cases and FMEAs.
  • Ability to analyze data and work in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.

Nice-to-have qualifications:

  • ISO 26262 or IEC 61508 Certification or equivalent training.
  • Experience with requirements management tools like Jama or DOORS.
  • Knowledge of safety analysis tools such as Medini Analyze.
  • Familiarity with automotive standards like ASPICE and AEC-Q100.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and organizational skills.

Education Requirements

Master's degree preferred or a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
