Semiconductor Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and drive chip-level IO architecture, floor-planning, and custom circuit implementations for advanced semiconductor solutions. Work with architecture, packaging, assembly and board teams to define IO, power domains, signaling, ESD, and package/board connectivity.

Experience Level

Senior — 10+ years of semiconductor design experience; at least 8 years in IO/architecture-focused roles.

Responsibilities

Contribute to chip definition and physical design, and coordinate cross-functional implementation.

• Perform chip layout, circuit checking, documentation, and specification development.
• Review product requirements and logic diagrams to define device behavior.
• Drive IO definition including clocking and voltage domain crossing.
• Lead floor-planning and ensure alignment with physical and electrical IO requirements.
• Define signaling, power rail and bump patterns, and ESD requirements impacting package/board design.
• Develop custom datapath definitions and power-efficient circuit designs.
• Collaborate with assembly, packaging, and board connectivity teams on integration requirements.
• Conduct regular project check-ins to align priorities in a fast-moving environment.

• Must-have: 10+ years semiconductor design experience with a minimum of 8 years focused on IO/architecture.
• Must-have: Strong expertise in IO architecture (clocking, voltage domain crossing) and floor-planning.
• Must-have: Experience with physical packaging and board/package design, including power rail/bump-patterning and ESD definitions.
• Must-have: Proficiency with Cadence tools (Virtuoso, Allegro) and handling MOM files.
• Must-have: Experience developing circuits and schematic definitions to support floor plans and datapaths.
• Must-have: Ability to work cross-functionally across architecture, packaging, and board teams.
• Nice-to-have: System-level architecture exposure and advanced clocking expertise.
• Nice-to-have: Prior experience in dynamic, fast-paced semiconductor programs.
