RTL SoC Design Intern
QuadricJob Title
RTL SoC Design Intern
Role Summary
Support the SoC design team on Quadric's GPNPU platform by working on subsystem development, third-party IP integration, and PPA (power, performance, area) analysis. Work directly with SoC architects and front-end designers to implement and validate SoC-level features and optimizations.
Experience Level
Internship / Entry-level. Intended for current students or recent graduates; typically 0–3 years of experience.
Responsibilities
Work alongside engineers and architects to integrate subsystems and improve SoC-level PPA.
- Design and integrate SoC-level subsystems and third-party IP (examples: NoC, PCIe/UCIe, DDR, security blocks).
- Contribute to documentation of SoC architecture, integration requirements, and application constraints.
- Assist in PPA analysis and optimization at the SoC level; support timing closure and low-power design activities.
- Implement and validate front-end RTL in a real design environment using SystemVerilog/Verilog.
- Communicate findings, blockers, and technical questions clearly to architects and the hardware team.
Requirements
Core technical skills and collaboration abilities required; preferred skills listed separately.
- Familiarity with SoC/ASIC front-end design concepts.
- Proficient in SystemVerilog or Verilog.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and debugging skills; clear technical communication.
- Willingness and ability to work on site in the Burlingame, CA office for the internship period.
Preferred / Nice-to-have
- Coursework or project experience in computer architecture, low-power design, or RTL design.
- Exposure to logic synthesis, FPGA design, or performance modeling.
- Experience with scripting (Python) and practical use of LLMs for engineering tasks.
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
