RTL NoC Design - Senior Lead / Staff
QualcommJob Title
RTL NoC Design - Senior Lead / Staff
Role Summary
Lead architecture and implementation of Network-on-Chip (NoC) interconnects for next-generation SoCs. The role drives micro-architecture and RTL development, leads a team of designers, and collaborates with SoC architects, IP owners, verification, and physical design teams to meet functional, performance, and power targets.
Experience Level
Senior - posting targets experienced candidates; the job references ~8+ years of ASIC design experience as typical for this level.
Responsibilities
Accountabilities for this role include:
- Define and architect NoC solutions and interconnect topologies for complex SoCs (mobile, compute, automotive, AI).
- Develop scalable, low-latency, and power-efficient interconnect implementations at RTL.
- Lead and mentor a team of NoC designers; run design reviews and ensure designs meet targets.
- Collaborate with SoC architects, IP owners, verification, and physical design teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Drive performance analysis, optimization, and timing closure activities.
- Work with functional verification on test-plan development and waveform debug at core, subsystem, and SoC levels.
- Support subsystem/SoC integration and chip-level debug, including performance bottleneck resolution.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; where noted, items are "nice-to-have".
- Strong fundamentals in micro-architecture development and RTL digital design (must-have).
- Hands-on experience with multi-clock designs and asynchronous interfaces (must-have).
- Familiarity with front-end flows: lint, CDC, low-power checks, synthesis (must-have).
- Experience with constraint development and timing closure (preferred).
- Knowledge of on-chip protocols (AXI/ACE/CHI/AHB) (preferred/very desirable).
- Experience with NoC tools and performance analysis tools (nice-to-have).
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and coordinate cross-functional engineering teams (must-have).
- Strong problem-solving skills, clear communication, and teamwork (must-have).
- Willingness to contribute beyond RTL design to meet end-product goals (must-have).
Education Requirements
Qualifications cited: Bachelors, Masters (MTech/BTech) or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical field. The posting specifies equivalent experience options: Bachelors + 4+ years of relevant hardware engineering experience; Masters + 3+ years; or PhD + 2+ years.
