RTL Design - Senior Engineer
QualcommJob Title
RTL Design - Senior Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for RTL design and implementation of SoC subsystems with emphasis on AMBA interfaces, multi-clock and low-power design, and ASIC timing closure. Works within the Hardware Engineering team and collaborates with verification, validation and silicon teams for pre- and post-silicon debug.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Minimum qualifications indicate a Bachelor's degree plus 2+ years hardware engineering experience, a Master's degree plus 1+ year, or a PhD (see Education Requirements for details).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include RTL design, timing/constraint development, and cross-team silicon bring-up support.
- Design and implement RTL for SoC blocks and peripherals (AXI/AHB/APB, USB, PCIe, SDCC).
- Develop constraints and drive timing closure; coordinate synthesis and STA flows.
- Design and validate multi-clock and asynchronous interfaces; apply low-power SoC techniques.
- Collaborate with SoC verification, validation, and hardware teams for pre- and post-silicon debug.
- Use static analysis and ASIC tool flows (lint, CDC analysis, synthesis, PrimeTime) to ensure design quality.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and tool experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.
- Must-have: Hands-on experience with multi-clock designs and asynchronous interfaces.
- Must-have: Practical experience with timing concepts for ASICs, constraint development, and timing closure.
- Must-have: Experience with lint, CDC analysis, synthesis (Design Compiler) and static timing analysis (PrimeTime).
- Must-have: Experience in low-power SoC design.
- Must-have: Knowledge of AMBA protocols (AXI, AHB, APB) and SoC clocking/reset/debug architecture.
- Nice-to-have: Understanding of memory controller designs and microprocessor subsystems.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related engineering field (with 2+ years of hardware engineering experience); OR Master's degree in those fields (with 1+ year of hardware engineering experience); OR PhD in a related field.
