Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
RTL Design Manager
Role Summary
Manage a small front-end RTL design team in the AECG IP & SOC group. Own design and implementation of logic blocks to meet functional, timing, area and power targets and coordinate with architecture, IP design, physical design and product engineering to achieve first-pass silicon success.
Experience Level
Senior-level (title indicates senior role; typically 7+ years of relevant experience).
Responsibilities
The manager will lead a small engineering team and drive RTL block delivery from design through verification and debug.
- Lead and mentor a high-performance front-end RTL engineering team.
- Own architecture, design and implementation of RTL blocks to meet functional, timing, area and power requirements.
- Guide and review verification strategies and results for assigned blocks.
- Design logic for testability and efficient debug.
- Develop automation to improve team productivity.
- Coordinate with architects, physical designers and product engineers to resolve integration issues and support first-pass silicon goals.
- Communicate technical status and trade-offs clearly to both engineering teams and executives.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, leadership abilities, and preferred additional experience.
- Must-have: Strong front-end RTL engineering background and hands-on experience implementing logic for complex SoC blocks.
- Must-have: Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring engineering teams and driving delivery.
- Must-have: Strong analytic and problem-solving skills with focus on silicon-quality outcomes (first-pass success).
- Must-have: Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present complex issues at multiple levels.
- Must-have: Experience implementing automation (scripting) to increase design efficiency.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Arm architecture and APB, AXI, CHI protocols.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with design reuse (RTL, constraints, waivers) and SoC-level integration.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with timing constraints/exceptions, static checks (LINT, CDC) and multi-power-domain design (UPF).
