Job Title

RTL Design Lead - PCIe/CXL/UAL/DMA

Role Summary

Lead SoC architecture and I/O subsystem definition with a focus on PCIe, CXL, UAL and DMA engines. Partner with product planning, IP architects, design and verification teams, and customers to define architecture, PPA trade-offs, and specifications for adaptive and embedded SoCs.

Drive architecture documents and support pre-silicon design/verification and post-silicon validation across chiplet, monolithic or 3D implementations.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires 7+ years of relevant experience architecting SoC I/O subsystems and DMA/PCIe/CXL-related designs.

Responsibilities

Deliver architecture, specifications, and guidance for I/O subsystems and their integration into SoCs.

  • Define I/O subsystem and PCIe/CXL DMA architectures and interactions with embedded processor subsystems, NoC, memory controllers, and FPGA fabric.
  • Create flexible, modular I/O subsystem architectures for chiplet, monolithic, or 3D form factors.
  • Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to scope requirements and analyze PPA and schedule trade-offs.
  • Specify hardware, software, and firmware interfaces between DMA/I/O subsystems and embedded/external CPUs.
  • Author clear architecture specifications and guide pre-silicon design/verification and post-silicon validation.

Requirements

Core technical and domain expertise required; preferred items listed separately.

  • Must-have: Proven experience architecting SoC I/O subsystems involving PCIe, PCIe DMA engines, or CXL.
  • Must-have: Deep knowledge of PCIe and/or CXL protocol specifications and practical use of mandatory and optional protocol features.
  • Must-have: Experience defining DMA and I/O interactions with embedded processors (x86, RISC-V, ARM) and external host CPUs.
  • Must-have: Ability to write clear architecture specifications and to guide implementation/verification teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with AXI/on-chip to off-chip protocol bridging and ordering-rule enforcement.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with ARM processors, AXI interconnects, FPGA and AI/ML accelerators.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of boot, security, debug, telemetry and RAS considerations.
  • Nice-to-have: Domain experience in embedded computing, aerospace & defense, data center, networking, or automotive industries.

Education Requirements

BS, MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a closely related field (as stated: BS/MS/PhD in electrical or computer engineering or related field).
