RTL Design Engineer, Sr Lead
QualcommJob Title
RTL Design Engineer, Sr Lead
Role Summary
The RTL Design Engineer (Senior Lead) will lead front-end ASIC/SoC micro-architecture and RTL implementation, drive RTL quality signoff (lint, CDC), and collaborate with architecture, verification, DFT, and physical design teams to deliver silicon.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical expectation: 5+ years of front-end ASIC/SoC RTL design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include defining micro-architecture, implementing synthesizable RTL, ensuring RTL quality, and supporting timing and integration activities.
- Develop micro-architecture and interface specifications from high-level requirements.
- Design and implement synthesizable RTL using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Perform RTL quality checks: lint analysis and cleanup, CDC/RDC analysis and closure, FSM and structural checks.
- Create and maintain design and interface documentation.
- Work with verification teams to define verification plans and resolve functional issues.
- Support synthesis, timing analysis, timing closure, and develop/review SDC constraints.
- Collaborate with DFT and physical design teams for integration and tapeout.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted.
- 5+ years of ASIC/SoC front-end RTL design experience.
- Hands-on RTL design using Verilog/SystemVerilog and strong digital design fundamentals.
- Experience with lint and CDC tools (e.g., SpyGlass, Questa Lint/CDC or equivalent) and RTL quality flows.
- Working knowledge of clocking architectures, reset strategies, and low-power design concepts.
- Experience developing and reviewing SDC timing constraints and understanding timing analysis (setup/hold, CDC, timing closure).
- Strong analytical and debugging skills across simulation, synthesis, and implementation.
- Nice-to-have: synthesis flow experience (Design Compiler, Genus), DFT exposure, UPF/CPF low-power flows, scripting (Python/Perl/TCL), and experience with CPU/DSP/AI/ML or connectivity IP.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering field. Minimum-qualification combinations listed: Bachelor's + β₯3 years hardware engineering experience, Master's + β₯2 years, or PhD + β₯1 year; equivalent practical experience accepted.
