Role Summary

Join AMD's Security IP (SECIP) design team as an RTL Power Design Specialist focused on IP-level power architecture, measurement, and optimization for SoC products across client, server, graphics, and gaming platforms.

You will define IP power specifications, track and drive power targets, collaborate with SoC and corporate power methodology teams, and support power measurement and regression infrastructure to achieve aggressive power goals while maintaining performance and quality.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include defining IP power intent, enabling measurement, and driving optimizations.

• Develop and maintain RTL-level IP power specifications and align IP power architecture with SoC requirements.
• Define, track, and drive IP power targets by correlating design intent with measurement results.
• Collaborate with verification teams to create power vectors for simulation-based power measurements.
• Support static power measurement teams and maintain power regression infrastructure and health metrics.
• Debug power-related issues, analyze results, and recommend design improvements.
• Work with corporate power methodology and SoC teams to adopt and refine power architecture, analysis, and measurement methodologies.
• Contribute to corporate power methodology development and influence IP-level power strategy.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor team members on power architecture, design, analysis, and measurement best practices.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and constraints; nice-to-have items listed separately.

• Must-have: Proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog and experience with RTL-level power architecture, low-power design methodologies, and power-aware verification.
• Must-have: Experience with ASIC design and verification tools and flows (RTL simulation, linting, synthesis, power-aware verification, debugging).
• Must-have: Knowledge of on-chip bus and interface protocols such as AMBA/AXI/AHB.
• Must-have: Strong problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, and communication skills.
• Nice-to-have: Scripting experience (Python, Tcl) and familiarity with Makefile-based development; additional scripting (Perl, Ruby) is a plus.
• Nice-to-have: Deep understanding of microprocessor subsystem architectures and RTL microarchitectures for datapath accelerators.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
