RTL Design Engineer – Memory Controller
Role Summary
Design and implement RTL for memory controller functional blocks within Arm System IP. Work with performance modeling, verification, and implementation teams to deliver correct functionality and meet performance, power, and area (PPA) targets. Role is based in Austin with a hybrid office/home working pattern.
Experience Level
Mid-level - typically requires 5+ years of relevant RTL/SoC/memory controller experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop high-level specifications and detailed micro-architecture plans for memory controller components.
- Design and implement SystemVerilog RTL for complex blocks and functions.
- Collaborate with performance modeling, verification, and implementation teams to close functional and coverage requirements.
- Debug functional and performance issues using simulation and debug tools.
- Drive design decisions to meet frequency, power, and area targets.
Requirements
Must-have:
- Prior RTL design experience using Verilog or VHDL and experience with synthesis to meet PPA targets.
- Knowledge of DRAM specifications (for example LPDDR5/LPDDR6, DDR5/DDR6, HBM3/HBM4) and bus protocols (for example AMBA CHI, AMBA ACE, AXI).
- Experience with RTL quality tools such as lint, CDC, power analysis, and synthesis checks.
- Experience working on microprocessor, SoC, memory controller, or interconnect IP (typically 5+ years).
Nice-to-have:
- Prior memory controller RTL design experience.
- Verification or CAD experience.
- Experience with CPU/compute subsystem memory micro-architecture and general SoC or OS-level knowledge.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer/Computer Engineering is specified in the posting. The role also specifies approximately 5+ years of relevant work experience.
