RTL Design Jobs, Level - Senior

Job Title

RTL Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join AMD's PCIe Subsystem (PCIeSS) organization on the PCIe IP Enablement (IPE) team as a senior RTL design engineer. You will design and deliver high-quality PCIe subsystem RTL, working with architecture, IP design, physical design, verification, and DFx teams to achieve first-pass silicon success.

Primary responsibilities include micro-architecture and RTL implementation for PCIe subsystem blocks, subsystem integration, and front-end signoff activities.

Experience Level

Senior-level β€” the role is described as a senior RTL design engineer and typically expects substantial prior RTL/IP design and tape-out experience (commonly 7+ years).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Micro-architecture and RTL design for PCIe subsystem blocks.
  • Develop, maintain and document RTL for complex digital blocks; enforce RTL coding guidelines.
  • Translate architecture requirements into robust, reusable RTL implementations.
  • Drive design reviews and resolve complex RTL debug and correctness issues.
  • Support subsystem integration and SoC delivery, including tile flow and repeater/SRAM integration.
  • Ensure RTL meets front-end signoff requirements (Lint, CDC/RDC, synthesis, LEC, STA).
  • Collaborate with verification, physical design, and architecture teams for design handoff and sign-off.

Requirements

Required and preferred technical skills and experience.

  • Must-have: Proven RTL design and micro-architecture experience for complex digital IP/subsystems with end-to-end ownership through tape-out.
  • Must-have: Strong RTL implementation experience using Verilog/SystemVerilog and RTL-quality flows (Lint, CDC/RDC, synthesis, LEC, STA).
  • Must-have: Experience with VCS simulation and common scripting (Perl/Shell) for design flows and automation.
  • Must-have: Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to drive design reviews and resolve correctness issues.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with subsystem integration tasks (tile flow, repeaters, SRAM generation, ECO) and DFx awareness (DFT/DFD).
  • Nice-to-have: Direct PCIe protocol and subsystem design experience.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience applying AI techniques or tools to development workflows.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
