RTL Design (Camera) - Senior Engineer
QualcommJob Title
RTL Design (Camera) - Senior Engineer
Role Summary
Design and verify RTL for camera and imaging subsystems (ISP, 3A, image quality and related blocks) within Qualcomm's Camera Engineering team. The role covers architecture, logic design, implementation, verification, performance and power optimization, and cross-functional integration.
Works with firmware, algorithm, verification and system teams to deliver camera features and ensure image quality and system-level metrics are met.
Experience Level
Senior level. Minimum experience guidance in the posting ties to education: Bachelor's +2 years, Master's +1 year, or PhD; practical experience in RTL/ISP/camera design and verification is expected.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Architect, design and develop RTL for camera/ISP blocks and related logic.
- Create and execute verification strategies, testbenches and validation plans.
- Decompose algorithms/features into hardware requirements and specifications.
- Optimize implementations for image quality, area, power, and system performance.
- Debug silicon/FPGA brings-up and fix design or integration issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (algorithms, firmware, system, tools) to integrate and tune features.
- Produce technical documentation and detailed feature descriptions for internal and customer use.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Hands-on RTL design and verification experience for imaging or related digital blocks.
- Experience with image signal processing (ISP) design, implementation or verification.
- Experience with camera hardware or camera systems design and optimization.
- Proficiency with hardware description languages and digital design methodologies (e.g., SystemVerilog/Verilog).
- Strong debugging, documentation and cross-team communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and influence design decisions.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with C/C++, Python for tooling or validation.
- Background in embedded systems, computer architecture, ISP algorithms or tuning tools.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field plus 2+ years of relevant engineering experience; OR Master's degree in those fields plus 1+ year of relevant experience; OR PhD in those fields (experience requirement may be waived). Preferred: advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in EE/CE/CS or related field.
