RF Hardware Engineer
Role Summary
The RF Hardware Engineer collaborates with global cross-functional teams to design, validate, and release RF test interface hardware and PCBs used for semiconductor device characterization and production testing.
Work is within the QCT Product & Test Engineering (PTE) group supporting test solutions for 5G RF mmWave/Sub-6 transceivers, modules, and related mixed-signal devices.
Experience Level
Entry-level (Level - Entry or Early Career); the posting requires a minimum of 2 years of hardware engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing and delivering test hardware and collaborating across engineering functions.
- Collaborate with mechanical, CAD, procurement, manufacturing, power & signal integrity, and test teams to define hardware requirements.
- Design and debug test interface hardware: schematic capture, oversee PCB/layout, and drive release into volume production.
- Perform SI/PI analysis, PCB extraction, optimization and end-to-end simulation to meet electrical performance goals.
- Integrate hardware with ATE platforms, handlers/probers and bench test equipment for device characterization.
- Conduct and document design reviews to meet product development schedules and quality standards.
Requirements
Technical skills and domain experience required or preferred.

Must-have: Practical experience with signal and power integrity analysis and related EDA tools (examples: Cadence Sigrity, Ansys 3D, ADS) for PCB extraction, optimization and simulation.

Must-have: Hands-on experience with common test and measurement equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum/network analyzer, logic analyzer) and familiarity with ATE platforms.

Must-have: Experience designing multilayer PCBs, connector/socket selection, and component selection for high-frequency designs.

Nice-to-have: Experience with Mentor PADS Logic/Layout, DxDesigner, Expedition.

Nice-to-have: Prior work designing boards for ATE testers, RF/RFFE design (preferably mmWave), and SI/PI measurement-to-simulation correlation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required, plus a minimum of 2 years of hardware engineering experience.
