Job Title

RF Design Engineer, Kilby Labs

Role Summary

Design and develop RF, mm-wave, and SerDes integrated circuits and supporting systems for industrial, automotive, and communications applications within Kilby Labs. The role covers architecture, circuit design, simulation, characterization, and collaboration across process, packaging, and business-unit partners.

Work includes project ownership from definition through silicon validation and support for technology transfer and productization of IP.

Experience Level

Senior-level. See the Education Requirements section for the stated degree and years-of-experience guidance.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Lead design of RF, SerDes, and mm-wave ICs from definition through validation and handoff.
  • Architect, design, and simulate RF and analog IP; provide layout guidance.
  • Define characterization strategies and guide PCB development for measurements.
  • Characterize ICs for RF and system-level performance using probed or packaged measurements.
  • Perform competitive benchmarking and follow current research in RF, wireless, wireline, and mm-wave domains.
  • Balance innovation with execution to deliver IP demonstrable in silicon on schedule.
  • Collaborate closely with Process, Packaging, BU partners, and cross-functional team members.
  • Support technology transfer, productization, and liaise with university research projects where applicable.

Requirements

Key technical and professional requirements. Degree details are in Education Requirements below.

  • Hands-on experience developing RF, radio, radar, or SerDes products.
  • Strong understanding of RF design, including small- and large-signal simulation and electromagnetic modeling.
  • Experience characterizing RF ICs and systems; familiarity with de-embedding and RF instrumentation is preferred.
  • Experience with CMOS, SiGe HBT, or III-V technologies is preferred.
  • Expertise in clocking circuits (including PLLs) and/or RF front-ends and high-speed broadband circuits is a plus.
  • Proven ability to manage time to meet project schedules and to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to build influential relationships.

Education Requirements

Ph.D. with 5+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience. The job metadata lists degree level as Doctorate Degree. (No alternative "equivalent experience" phrasing was provided.)
