Job Title
RF Application Engineer
Role Summary
Work on RF reference designs, evaluation hardware, and automated bench validation to support product design-in and customer deployments. Part of the applications/RF team partnering with sales and FAEs to resolve RF integration and field issues.
Experience Level
Mid-level β requires a minimum of 5+ years of R&D experience in RF circuit or wireless product design.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities cover reference design development, lab validation, customer support, and technical enablement.
- Create and validate RF reference and demo hardware; perform schematic/layout guidance and maintain reference design packages.
- Develop and improve automated RF bench tests (scripting, regression, reporting, repeatable flows) and run system validation.
- Bring up RF application hardware and correlate simulation with lab results.
- Partner with sales and FAEs to provide advanced technical support, influence RF architecture, and assist with PA/LNA and antenna integration and debug.
- Troubleshoot customer field issues to support successful deployments and rollouts.
- Produce application notes and deliver technical training to FAEs and sales teams.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and skills required for the role.
- Minimum 5+ years of R&D experience in RF circuit or wireless product design.
- Strong written and verbal English; able to document and collaborate with global teams.
Nice-to-have skills and tools:
- Hands-on RF design, bring-up, and debug experience (PA/LNA, matching/filtering, FEM/switches, antenna integration) on reference/eval hardware.
- Simulation and correlation experience with ADS, HFSS, or equivalent; RF PCB layout experience (Altium, Protel, OrCAD) including stack-up, grounding, and controlled impedance.
- RF systems knowledge: link budgets, transceiver/FEM/antenna trade-offs, coexistence and deployment factors.
- Experience building RF bench automation and test scripts (Python, LabVIEW, or C/C++ with SCPI/VISA); regression tests, data capture, and reporting.
- Experience with spectrum analyzers, signal generators, VNAs, RF tuners, and noise-figure setups for calibration and automated measurements.
- MCU bring-up and embedded development experience (C/C++, Python) for evaluation boards and demos.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or above in Electronics, Communications, Computer Science, Automation, or related disciplines.
