Job Title

RF Analog Design Staff Engineer

Role Summary

Design and validate analog and mixed-signal circuits for high-speed SerDes physical interfaces and supporting analog blocks used in advanced SoCs. The role sits on an international analog design team and focuses on transistor-level circuit design, simulation, and collaboration with layout and system teams to meet performance, power, and area targets.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires 5+ years of hands-on analog/mixed-signal design experience in high-speed environments.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include circuit design, simulation, validation, and collaboration across design and layout teams to deliver robust analog IP.

  • Design and validate analog and mixed-signal circuits for high-speed SerDes (drivers, receivers, clocking, PLL, DLL, CDR).
  • Perform schematic entry, SPICE simulation, and final validation of analog blocks from references to complex front-ends.
  • Collaborate with layout engineers to review and optimize layouts and mitigate parasitic effects.
  • Develop and validate custom digital circuits for high-speed applications and ensure timing closure using STA tools.
  • Use IC design tools and SPICE simulators for performance analysis and verification of analog circuits.
  • Work with international teams to share designs, resolve issues, and drive analog design methodology improvements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience to perform the role; preferred skills listed separately.

Must-have:

  • 5+ years of hands-on analog circuit design experience, especially in high-speed mixed-signal environments.
  • Strong transistor-level circuit design skills and practical experience with deep submicron CMOS technologies.
  • Proficiency with SPICE simulators, analog simulation methods, and verification tools.
  • Experience with IC design flows and digital circuit validation, including STA timing closure (Primetime, Nanotime, or equivalent).
  • Effective written and verbal communication in English and ability to work in international teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with Synopsys EDA tools.
  • Experience with Unix and scripting languages (TCL, Python).

Education Requirements

MSc in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or equivalent). The posting specifies a master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with a solid background in transistor-level circuit design, but also allows equivalent practical experience.
