Job Title

RF/Analog and Mixed-Signal Engineering Internship - Summer 2027

Role Summary

This internship places students on engineering teams working on RF, analog, microwave and mixed-signal design for wireless systems (examples: 5G/6G mmWave, RFIC, PA, LNAs, ADC/DAC, transceivers, and RF front-ends).

Interns are assigned a project, paired with a mentor and contribute to design, simulation, verification, integration, and lab testing within an engineering team.

Experience Level

Entry-level (internship). Intended for current undergraduate or graduate students; typical participants are students available for a summer internship period.

Responsibilities

Typical intern responsibilities (vary by track and project):

  • Contribute to design and analysis of RF/analog or mixed-signal circuits and subsystems.
  • Perform simulations, modeling, and performance analysis (RF, mixed-signal, SIPI, PDN, timing, etc.).
  • Implement and verify RTL or analog designs, participate in CAD/EDA workflows and tape-out activities as applicable.
  • Support lab characterization, test, and debug of prototypes and boards.
  • Document results, present findings to the project team, and work closely with an assigned mentor and manager.

Requirements

Key must-haves and desirable skills. Education degree details are listed under Education Requirements below.

  • Must-have: Availability for 11–14 weeks during Summer 2027 (May–September).
  • Notice: Role may require an export license for candidates from certain countries; license processing can delay start dates.
  • Nice-to-have (RF/Analog track): familiarity with RF and microwave theory, analog/RFIC design, S-parameters, impedance matching, power amplifiers, PCB/layout and tape-out experience; programming/scripting such as MATLAB, Perl, HFSS, Cadence.
  • Nice-to-have (Mixed-Signal track): experience with ADC/DAC, PLLs, SerDes, DDR/memory interfaces, RTL coding and verification (Verilog/SystemVerilog), Cadence environment, static timing analysis, scripting (Python, Shell, Tcl) and low-power design techniques.

Education Requirements

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's, Master’s, or Ph.D. program in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related technical field. Preferred candidates are Master’s or Ph.D. students. Expected graduation must be November 2027 or later; some teams consider candidates with anticipated graduation between November 2027 and June 2028.
