Reliability Test Engineering Intern (Summer 2027)
Role Summary
Support the Reliability Engineering team at GLOBALFOUNDRIES Fab 8 (Malta, NY) on wafer-level and package-level reliability characterization. Work includes test automation, equipment operation, data collection and analysis, and cross-team collaboration with FEOL, BEOL, and Product Reliability engineering.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship for currently enrolled students. No specific professional experience required; internship intended for students at or beyond sophomore standing.
Responsibilities
Key day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain test programs and capabilities using Python, C#, C++, or similar languages.
- Assist with wafer- and package-level reliability tests such as HCI, BTI, TDDB, and EM.
- Execute electrical measurements on semi-automatic and automatic probers; ensure accurate, on-time data collection.
- Analyze test results, troubleshoot measurements or equipment issues, and document findings for engineering review.
- Support automation, equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and laboratory organization.
- Collaborate with FEOL, BEOL, Product Reliability, and lab engineering teams to support technology development and qualification.
- Follow Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) procedures while performing all activities.
Requirements
Basic qualifications and expectations for candidates.
- Fluent in English (written and verbal).
- Available to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.
- Able to perform tasks safely and follow EHS&S programs and facility policies.
- Preferred: prior internship or co-op experience and familiarity with probers or electrical test equipment.
- Preferred: programming experience with Python, C#, C++, Visual Basic or similar; interest in AI tools to improve workflows.
- Preferred: strong communication, project management, planning, and organizational skills; leadership experience.
- Preferred: coursework or lab experience in semiconductor devices, circuits, reliability, or electrical characterization.
Education Requirements
At least a sophomore at time of application and actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Microelectronics, or a related technical field from an accredited program. Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and in good academic standing while participating in the internship.
