Regional Development Applications Engineer
Role Summary
Provide applications engineering and development support for KLA FaST optical metrology products, collaborating with internal engineering, sales, and customer teams to introduce products and enable customer process implementation.
Primary mission: accelerate product ramp by characterizing tools, developing measurement recipes, resolving escalations, delivering training, and managing customer demonstrations.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead new product introduction activities: product characterization, alpha/beta testing, and pilot tool support.
- Perform experiments to characterize tool and subcomponent performance and develop measurement recipes and optical application models.
- Provide escalation and application support; lead and coordinate remote and onsite troubleshooting with field service teams and customers.
- Develop training materials and Best Known Methods (BKM) documents; transfer product knowledge to the global Field Applications team.
- Manage in-house customer demonstrations and head-to-head comparisons at customer facilities.
- Publish technical papers and present results at industry symposiums or in technical journals as appropriate.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and expectations:
- Experience in semiconductor processing or the semiconductor equipment industry (preferred and relevant).
- Strong communication, organizational, analytical, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-driven and able to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel frequently (greater than 50%).
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with optical metrology, scatterometry, film thickness, critical-dimension (CD) metrology, or related measurement techniques.
- Prior experience supporting NPI and ramp phases at customer fabs.
Education Requirements
Must have an MS or PhD in Engineering, Physics, Optics, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
