RDA Application Engineer

Role Summary

Join the inspection team responsible for improving quality and yield in DRAM manufacturing at Micron's Hiroshima Fab‑15. The role creates and updates inspection recipes and detection methods, supports product transfers, and collaborates with process, PI and equipment engineers to improve detection, yield, quality, cost and productivity.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on inspection recipe development, detection for yield/quality, and collaboration to resolve manufacturing issues.

  • Create, modify and maintain inspection recipes to detect defects and improve yield and quality.
  • Develop and optimize detection methods and evaluate recipe health.
  • Support product transfers from TD and ensure readiness for production.
  • Work with PI, process and equipment engineers and technology development teams to meet Micron roadmaps.
  • Drive detection enhancement, yield improvement, cost reduction, productivity gains and risk management.
  • Investigate and resolve anomalies on the production line and propose corrective actions.
  • Document results and present findings to stakeholders.

  • Timely and accurate reporting of task progress.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; able to produce written documents and converse in English.
  • Ability to build and maintain cooperative relationships with team members and business partners.
  • Understanding of quality control and a proactive approach to quality improvement.
  • Proven ability to set, measure and achieve short‑ and long‑term goals.
  • Willingness to be stationed at Fab‑15 (Hiroshima manufacturing site) and to remain on site when required for extended periods.

Nice to have:

  • Semiconductor manufacturing knowledge (DRAM flow and typical step sequences).
  • Metrology experience.
  • Experience with transfers, best known methods (BKM) and Micron processes.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with content experts across written, chat and conference call channels.
  • Ability to leverage AI tools to improve operational efficiency.

Education Requirements

Requires knowledge equivalent to a Bachelor's degree; knowledge equivalent to a Master's degree is preferred. The posting uses "学士相当の知識" and notes Master's‑level knowledge as desirable (i.e., degree‑level knowledge or equivalent practical experience).
