RDA Application Engineer
Role Summary
Support wafer fabrication process development, optimization, and sustainment at Micron's Taichung Fab 16 to improve yield, quality, cost efficiency, and manufacturing productivity.
Work across Equipment, Integration, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to lead process improvements, validate new process readiness, and resolve technical challenges during NPI and production ramp.

Responsibilities
The role focuses on process development, problem solving, and driving manufacturing targets during new product introduction and capacity expansion.
- Develop, optimize, and sustain wafer fabrication processes to improve yield, quality, cost, and productivity.
- Drive single process-step improvement initiatives and process evaluations.
- Lead continuous improvement projects and support NPI and production ramp activities.
- Apply FMEA, 8D, SPC, and FDC to analyze yield excursions and defect issues.
- Diagnose root causes and minimize production downtime.
- Use data analysis to prevent recurring issues and detect process drift (SPC/FDC/APC monitoring).
- Manage process qualification activities and process control plans; validate readiness for next-generation process technologies.
- Resolve technical challenges associated with high-volume manufacturing scaling and capacity expansion.
- Ensure cycle time, production capacity, and product quality objectives are met.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and manufacturing readiness for cleanroom semiconductor environments.
- Knowledge of semiconductor process development and recipe/flow management.
- Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC), Fault Detection & Classification (FDC), and APC monitoring concepts.
- Proficiency in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA), and 8D problem-solving methods.
- Understanding of process and equipment interactions and process/equipment characteristics.
- Data analysis skills and ability to interpret technical data to drive improvements.
- Experience producing technical documentation and communicating results to stakeholders.
- Continuous improvement mindset and demonstrated ability to lead or contribute to CI projects.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Analytical, detail-oriented thinking with high learning agility and adaptability.
- Willingness and ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and cleanroom attire when needed.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical discipline (for example: Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering) is expected; advanced professional certification, equivalent military technical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience is also acceptable.
