Job Title

RAS and Manageability Controller Firmware Developer

Role Summary

As a SoC RAS and Manageability Controller Firmware Developer you will design and implement embedded firmware for SoC management controllers to enable error handling, debug, telemetry, power management, boot, security, and runtime services across Qualcomm SoCs. You will work closely with hardware and firmware teams and engage with external partners on platform enablement.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Minimum: 4+ years software/firmware engineering experience with a Bachelor's (alternatively Master's 3+ years or PhD 2+ years). Preferred: ~8+ years embedded firmware development experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive firmware lifecycle: design, implement, debug, and verify firmware in pre-silicon and post-silicon environments.
  • Develop core firmware stack and RTOS-based services for management controllers.
  • Implement error reporting, debug, telemetry and reliability (RAS) features for SoCs.
  • Collaborate on silicon and platform bring-up, debug, diagnostics, and cross-team integration.
  • Engage with open-source communities to upstream support for architectures, drivers, and firmware features.
  • Work with third parties for platform enablement and provide input to architects on future SoC/platform designs.
  • Participate in hiring and identifying team skill requirements.

  • Proficient in C and assembly; experience with C++ and scripting languages (Python, Java) beneficial.
  • Embedded firmware development experience, including driver development and RTOS or OS kernel environments.
  • Experience with RTOS such as Zephyr, eCos, uC/OS, FreeRTOS, or similar.
  • Experience debugging in pre-silicon environments (simulators, FPGA emulation) and post-silicon bring-up.
  • Familiarity with power management, boot flow, interprocessor communication, and platform manageability features.
  • Experience with debug, telemetry, error reporting and diagnostics on server or SoC platforms.
  • Ability to collaborate with hardware teams and external partners; strong problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with ARM RAS specs, ARM CPU RAS extensions, and software components (SDEI, APEI, UEFI CPER).
  • Experience on ARMv8 platforms and development for datacenter/server platforms.
  • Proven technical leadership and experience defining RAS solutions.

Education Requirements

Qualifications accept a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related technical fields. The posting specifies degree+experience combinations: Bachelor's +4 years, Master's +3 years, PhD +2 years.
