Radio Frequency Test Process Engineer

Role Summary

Lead development and optimization of RF test and manufacturing solutions within the Sort Test Technology Development team in Advanced Packaging Technology Manufacturing. Deliver production-ready test processes and enable performance, yield, and manufacturability targets.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, customers, and suppliers to solve test and process challenges for RF and mixed-signal devices.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Minimum experience varies by degree: Bachelor's +4 years, Master's +3 years, or Ph.D.

Responsibilities

The role combines test development, process engineering, and device characterization for RF and mixed-signal devices.

• Develop and lead test technology and process solutions for new product designs and manufacturing scalability.
• Optimize manufacturing techniques including materials selection, metrology, and process parameter refinement.
• Design and implement manufacturing and repair processes, including reverse-engineering methods.
• Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to define and optimize production testing strategies.
• Engage equipment and materials suppliers to develop enabling technologies that support the roadmap.
• Drive process and equipment improvements to enhance performance, yield, efficiency, and manufacturability.
• Test and characterize analog/RF circuits for power and thermal behavior; perform thermal profiling and recipe tuning for production control.
• Provide power delivery calibration for power/performance binning and perform ATE and bench device characterization.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and constraints for initial consideration.

• Working knowledge of RF lab equipment: spectrum and signal analyzers, signal generators, VNAs, TDRs, and mixed-signal test gear.
• Experience with ATE testing, IC test methodologies, electronics design, or product development.
• Hands-on experience in manufacturing process improvement, problem-solving, and excursion management.
• Technical knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Experience testing or characterizing analog, mixed-signal, and high-speed circuits.
• Familiarity with thermal profiling, power calibration, and production thermal control.
• Position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Nice-to-have:

• Programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW.
• Experience with tester hardware design, material handling systems, motion control, vision systems, or automated test equipment collateral.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related STEM field with 4+ years industry experience; OR Master's degree in those fields with 3+ years industry experience; OR Ph.D. in those fields. Fields mentioned include electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and materials science.
