R&D Engineering Staff Engineer - Physical Design CAD

Role Summary

The R&D Engineering Staff Engineer for Physical Design CAD at Synopsys specializes in RTL-to-GDSII flows, focusing on backend implementation for advanced digital IP. Responsibilities

The selected candidate will:

• Drive RTL-to-GDSII implementation for complex digital IP, ensuring signoff timing and PV closure.
• Lead backend flow development, including PnR, STA, DRC, LVS, and EMIR analysis.
• Collaborate with design and CAD teams to optimize backend methodologies.
• Troubleshoot timing, congestion, and physical verification challenges.
• Participate in design and flow reviews, proposing improvements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Document methodologies and flows for knowledge sharing.
• Engage with stakeholders to deliver high-quality backend solutions on schedule.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess:

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
• Extensive experience with RTL-to-GDSII flows, including EDA tools like Synopsys ICC2, PrimeTime, Calibre, Innovus.
• Strong scripting skills in Tcl, Python, or Perl.
• Experience with large, complex SoCs or IP blocks.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience or Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience in relevant fields.
