Job Title

R&D Engineering Staff Engineer

Role Summary

Customer-facing engineering role supporting deployments and validation of multiphysics and electrothermal signoff solutions (RedHawk-SC Electrothermal and related workflows). Acts as a technical liaison between customers, field teams, product management, and R&D to reproduce issues, deliver practical solutions, and drive product readiness.

Focus areas include thermal, power integrity, EM/IR, advanced packaging, and chip-package-system workflows.

Experience Level

Senior β€” role expects several years of domain experience (see Education Requirements for the specific years-of-experience guidance).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include customer support, validation, and creation of reusable deployment collateral.

  • Support evaluations, pilots, and production deployments of RedHawk-SC Electrothermal and related technologies across thermal, power integrity, EM/IR, and packaging workflows.
  • Analyze customer designs and workflows, reproduce issues, isolate root causes, and provide practical solutions or escalate with reproducible test cases.
  • Gather field and customer requirements and translate them into use cases, functional requirements, and validation criteria for Product Management and R&D.
  • Validate new features against real customer scenarios and document results, limitations, and readiness feedback.
  • Develop application notes, best-practice guides, training materials, and reusable deployment collateral for electrothermal and multiphysics workflows.
  • Conduct technical reviews, demonstrations, workshops, and training sessions for customers and internal teams.
  • Partner with Application Engineering to respond to escalations and deployment challenges with technically accurate guidance.

Requirements

Technical skills and experience required or highly preferred. Education and degree details are listed under Education Requirements below.

  • Comprehensive technical knowledge in semiconductor EDA and multiphysics simulation areas such as thermal analysis, electrothermal simulation, power integrity, EM/IR, reliability, signal integrity, mechanical stress, and package analysis.
  • Proven ability to analyze simulation results, identify root causes, and communicate findings and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience applying engineering judgment to independently deliver defined technical projects from start to finish.
  • Experience working with real chips, packages, or multiphysics workflows in design, analysis, or deployment.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills; ability to earn customer credibility quickly and lead technical discussions.
  • Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with RedHawk-SC, RedHawk-SC Electrothermal, Totem, PrimePower, PrimeTime, Fusion Compiler, 3DIC Compiler, or comparable EDA/multiphysics tools.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with 2.5D/3DIC, chiplets, HBM, interposers, package/board modeling, co-packaged optics, or heterogeneous integration.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field with at least 5 years of related experience, or a Master's degree with at least 3 years of related experience.
