R&D Engineering Sr. Staff Engineer

Role Summary

This R&D Engineering position at Synopsys focuses on advancing electronic design automation (EDA) and CAD automation. The successful candidate will work collaboratively to design and enhance logic synthesis features and automation flows, ensuring the delivery of high-performance EDA solutions.

Mid-level, with 6–8 years of relevant experience in EDA tools or software development.

Responsibilities

The engineer will be responsible for:

• Designing, developing, and enhancing logic synthesis features and automation flows.
• Maintaining synthesis capabilities optimizing timing, area, power, and Quality of Results (QoR).
• Debugging solutions across EDA flows and analyzing complex issues.
• Collaborating with various teams to ensure the delivery of integrated EDA solutions.
• Participating in design discussions and code reviews to shape product direction.
• Ensuring engineering quality through testing and best practices adherence.
• Contributing to documentation and mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

Applicants should possess the following:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 6–8 years of experience in EDA tools or CAD automation.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for large-scale software development.
• Experience with scripting languages like Tcl or Python for automation.
• Hands-on experience with front-end EDA flows and digital design fundamentals.
• Comfort in Linux/UNIX environments.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
