Job Title

R&D Engineering Sr Engineer

Role Summary

Early-career circuit designer focused on SRAM bitcell and peripheral circuit design within Synopsys' memory IP team. Work includes transistor-level design, simulation, variability analysis, and contributions to compiler automation for memory IP.

The team collaborates with layout, verification, and characterization engineers to deliver low-power, high-performance memory blocks for AI, mobile, automotive, and networking SoCs.

Experience Level

Entry-level - 0–2 years of experience (including internships and academic projects).

Responsibilities

Core technical responsibilities:

  • Design and optimize SRAM bitcells and peripheral circuits (sense amplifiers, write drivers, precharge circuits, row/column decoders) for power, performance, area, and yield.
  • Run transistor-level simulations with SPICE-class tools across PVT corners and analyze results.
  • Perform Monte Carlo and variability analysis to ensure robust operation across manufacturing spread and aging.
  • Debug circuit failures, analyze noise margins, and implement read/write assist techniques.
  • Contribute to SRAM compiler development and automation flows; develop scripts to accelerate design iterations.
  • Collaborate with layout, verification, and characterization teams to meet timing, power, and area targets.
  • Document design decisions, simulation results, and methodologies for team reuse.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • 0–2 years of relevant experience in circuit design, VLSI engineering, or memory design (including internships and project work).
  • Strong foundation in CMOS device physics, transistor operation, and semiconductor process technology.
  • Understanding of SRAM architecture, bitcell design, and memory circuit fundamentals.
  • Experience with transistor-level simulation and variability analysis (Monte Carlo, PVT).
  • Comfortable working in Unix/Linux environments and able to read/run simulation flows.
  • Good problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills; able to document and present technical results.

Nice-to-have / strong-pluses:

  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Tcl (useful for automation and compiler flows).
  • Exposure to SRAM compiler development, advanced-node design challenges, or published work in memory design.

Education Requirements

B.Tech or M.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, VLSI Design, Microelectronics, or a related field. Relevant coursework, internships, or projects in semiconductor circuit design are expected.
