R&D Engineering Senior Staff Engineer

Role Summary

Design and deliver CMOS embedded memory IP (SRAM, register files, ROM) across high-speed, low-power, and high-density portfolios. Work across architecture, circuit implementation, physical layout closure, verification, and automation integration.

Lead complex memory projects, debug transistor- to system-level issues, interface with CAD and frontend teams, and mentor junior engineers.

Experience Level

Senior — 8+ years of hands-on CMOS memory design experience with production tapeout responsibility.

Responsibilities

The role focuses on end-to-end memory IP development from architecture through tapeout and verification.

• Design CMOS embedded memories (single- and dual-port SRAM, register files, ROM) for performance, power, and density targets.
• Define memory architectures and implement circuits used by memory compilers.
• Perform schematic entry, SPICE-based circuit simulation, parasitic extraction, post-layout simulation, and supervise physical layout to closure.
• Develop and verify bit cells from topology exploration through full layout verification.
• Integrate with CAD teams to automate compiler flows and with frontend engineers to generate EDA models for verification.
• Debug and resolve design issues across transistor-level failures to compiler automation bugs.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers on memory design techniques and verification methodology.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, tools experience, and leadership capability.

• 8+ years of hands-on CMOS memory design with production tapeout responsibility.
• Deep proficiency in memory circuit design, SPICE simulation, layout planning, parasitic extraction, and layout verification tools.
• Experience developing bit cells and driving physical layout to verification closure.
• Experience interfacing with memory compiler automation flows and EDA model generation.
• Strong scripting skills in C-Shell and Perl; C++ or JavaScript is a plus.
• Proven ability to lead technical projects and mentor junior engineers.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related technical field (specified in the posting). No certifications or explicit "equivalent experience" language was provided.
