R&D Engineering Senior Manager

Role Summary

Lead and grow a distributed R&D team that develops embedded telemetry firmware and cloud analytics platforms for Silicon Lifecycle Management (SLM) across Automotive, Hyperscale, and Mobile domains. The role combines technical architecture, customer-facing co-development, and people management to deliver production-grade telemetry solutions that operate on deployed silicon.

Experience Level

Senior — requires extensive hands-on engineering experience and proven management of R&D teams (see Requirements for details).

Responsibilities

You will manage engineering delivery, architecture, and customer-facing development activities. Key responsibilities include:

• Manage and grow a distributed software engineering team focused on embedded telemetry and cloud analytics for SLM.
• Architect solutions combining low-latency on-chip sensor integration with scalable cloud pipelines (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Lead co-development and field engineering engagements at customer sites, translating production constraints into working prototypes.
• Drive validation, testing, and deployment of experimental software releases in live customer environments.
• Build feedback loops that ingest production telemetry into core R&D codebases to improve subsequent product generations.
• Partner with silicon design, verification, product management, and customer engineering to align roadmaps with deployment needs.
• Own hiring, mentorship, and technical growth for your team; balance IC work with team enablement.

Requirements

Must-have technical and leadership qualifications; items marked as preferred are nice-to-have.

• Must-have: 10+ years hands-on software development experience across embedded systems and cloud-scale architectures.
• Must-have: 3+ years managing R&D or advanced engineering teams with hiring and mentorship responsibility.
• Must-have: Expert-level C/C++ for performance-critical embedded software and Python for automation and cloud analytics.
• Must-have: Experience building and deploying cloud analytics pipelines on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, ideally for telemetry/time-series workloads at scale.
• Must-have: Technical fluency in at least one target vertical: Automotive (including ISO 26262/ASIL), Hyperscale infrastructure, or Mobile SoC power/thermal optimization.
• Must-have: Experience working directly with customers in co-development or field engineering roles.
• Preferred: Track record shipping software that runs in production across fleets or at hyperscale.
• Preferred: Experience driving validation and live deployments where uptime and reliability are measured at fleet scale.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field — or equivalent technical experience.
