Role Summary
Senior software engineer on a global R&D team developing high-capacity emulation backend technologies for Synopsys' Zebu emulation system. The role focuses on logic partitioning, placement and routing, pin assignment, and performance optimization for FPGA-based emulation of large designs.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 3–5 years of professional software development experience, with substantial C++ development and testing in a Linux environment.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include development, optimization, and validation of emulation backend software for large-capacity FPGA-based systems.
- Design and implement algorithms for logic partitioning, placement, routing, and pin assignment.
- Develop and test large C++ applications on Linux for emulation backends.
- Optimize performance and scalability for billion-gate emulation workloads.
- Run benchmarking designs, measure results, and demonstrate solution effectiveness.
- Collaborate with a global multi-site engineering team to integrate backend technologies into Zebu toolchain.
- Troubleshoot practical deployment issues and deliver robust, testable solutions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience.
- 3–5 years of software development experience focusing on C++ in a Linux environment.
- Practical knowledge of EDA concepts such as place-and-route, static timing analysis, synthesis, or timing closure.
- Strong ability to design efficient algorithms and data structures.
- Understanding of digital logic design, FPGA architecture, and hardware description languages (HDLs).
- Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaboration across global sites.
- Experience with benchmarking and performance evaluation of large designs.
Education Requirements
MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
