R&D Engineering Architect — DDR
Role Summary
Lead technical architect responsible for defining, specifying, and guiding development of next-generation DDR and HBM PHY interfaces within the IP portfolio. Work closely with cross-functional teams (logical design, verification, analog, layout) and with customers to translate product and performance requirements into implementable design features.
Represent the company in industry standards committees and drive technical decisions that affect interface performance, power, and area.
Experience Level
Senior — minimum of 12 years of related experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include specification, architecture, technical leadership, and customer support for high-speed PHY interfaces.
- Capture market and customer requirements for DDR and HBM PHY performance and functionality and translate them into product features.
- Define and maintain written specifications and documentation for PHY interfaces.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to custom analog designers and cross-functional teams.
- Optimize designs for performance, power, and area trade-offs.
- Coordinate with logical design, verification, analog circuit design, and layout teams to ensure correct integration and verification of PHYs.
- Support customers during implementation and integration of the IP.
- Monitor industry developments and represent the company in relevant standards committees.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role.
- Deep understanding of high-speed interface principles, including mixed-signal design and off-chip signaling.
- Proven ability to produce and support technical documentation and written specifications.
- Expertise in custom analog design, circuit simulation, test planning, and verification of complex IC components.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills for mixed-signal interfaces.
- Experience collaborating across multi-site engineering teams and communicating with customers.
- Track record of participation or representation in industry standards activities is desirable.
- Minimum 12 years of related experience.
