R&D Engineer, IC Design 4

Role Summary

Engineer for front-end ASIC core design and verification, responsible for architecture definition, RTL/logic design, synthesis, and verification using simulation and formal methods. Works with implementation teams to analyze timing and achieve timing closure.

Experience Level

Senior — typically a Bachelor's with 8+ years of relevant ASIC experience or a Master's with 6+ years.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, verification, and timing closure for ASIC cores.

• Define architecture and design logic blocks from system requirements.
• Develop RTL and constraints; perform synthesis and generate gate-level netlists.
• Perform design verification via simulation and formal verification methods.
• Analyze timing from physical implementation and drive timing closure.
• Simulate, debug, and optimize designs using Verilog simulation environments.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred.

• Must-have: Proven front-end ASIC design and verification experience; RTL/Verilog development and simulation; synthesis flow experience (Synopsys DC or equivalent); timing analysis with PrimeTime; familiarity with formal verification methods; scripting in TCL and/or Perl.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with Cadence RTL Compiler, Synopsys Formality or Cadence Conformal, SpyGlass lint, power analysis of RTL and gate-level netlists, DFT/scan methodology.
• Tools/version control: Experience with industry EDA tools and version control systems such as SVN or Git.
• Interpersonal: Ability to work independently and collaborate across cross-functional teams; strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field. The posting specifies a Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of related experience, or a Master's degree with 6+ years; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
