Job Title

R&D DFT Engineer for 3D and 2.5D Devices

Role Summary

Engineer responsible for research and product development of design-for-test (DFT) solutions for 3D and 2.5D integrated circuits. Work within an international R&D team to develop software and hardware features, lead project work, and integrate new technologies into Tessent test tool flows.

Primary focus areas include 3D IC test and repair, DFT architectures, EDA tool development, and standards compliance.

Experience Level

Senior-level technical role; candidates are expected to have advanced research experience (PhD required).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Drive development of DFT features for 3D/2.5D devices, from specification through implementation and validation.
  • Design and implement algorithms and software components in C/C++, TCL, and Python for EDA tool flows.
  • Work with hardware and test engineers to specify and validate interconnect test and repair methodologies for 3D ICs.
  • Develop and verify DFT structures (scan, scan compression, BIST, boundary scan, ATPG) and ensure standards compliance.
  • Collaborate with QA, support, documentation, and product marketing to deliver production-quality functionality.
  • Lead technical projects and mentor team members on DFT and test methodologies.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Deep knowledge of DFT structures and methodologies: scan, scan compression, logic BIST, boundary scan, and ATPG.
  • Strong background in 3D IC testing, including interconnect test and repair strategies.
  • Proven EDA development experience with C/C++, TCL, and Python.
  • Good understanding of IEEE 1500, IEEE 1687, and IEEE 1838 standards.
  • Experience in design, simulation, and verification of ASIC/VLSI circuits and systems.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving abilities; effective oral and written communication in English.

Nice-to-have:

  • Exposure to machine learning and AI techniques applied to EDA or test.
  • Unix/Linux experience.
  • Familiarity with Tessent CAD tools (TestKompress, FastScan, Memory BIST, Diagnosis).
  • Expertise in Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL (behavioral, RTL, gate-level).

Education Requirements

Must have a PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering. Relevant coursework or project experience in VLSI design, HDL synthesis, VLSI testing, and design-for-test (DFT) is expected.
