Job Title

Quantum Topological Qubit Integration - Principal Engineer

Role Summary

Principal engineer on the Topological Qubit Integration team within Quantum Technology Solutions. Responsible for translating topological qubit device requirements into semiconductor process integration plans and executing integration work to enable scalable quantum hardware.

Works cross-functionally with materials, epitaxy, device, packaging and BEOL teams to deliver manufacturable integration flows that meet performance, yield, and reliability targets.

Experience Level

Senior-level (Principal). Guidance: 5+ years of experience in semiconductor process or integration engineering as indicated by the posting.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include hands-on process integration, data-driven problem solving, and cross-functional coordination to enable topological qubit platforms.

  • Integrate topological quantum devices including III‑V heterostructures, superconducting films, and hybrid material systems into semiconductor process flows.
  • Develop and execute process integration flows across device modules, BEOL interconnect, and heterogeneous integration schemes.
  • Collaborate with epitaxy and materials teams to ensure III‑V layers, superconductors, and interfaces meet device requirements.
  • Integrate device architectures supporting qubit operation and cryogenic read-out/control circuitry.
  • Analyze device/process interactions (defectivity, variability, contamination, interface quality) and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Design and execute DOE and analyze electrical and physical characterization data to guide optimization.
  • Support development of superconducting interconnects and low-loss BEOL wiring for cryogenic operation.
  • Define and track technical milestones for performance, variability, and reliability; document integration flows and technical learnings.
  • Participate in yield-learning activities and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform all activities in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role.

  • 5+ years of semiconductor process or integration engineering experience.
  • Experience with semiconductor device physics and materials interactions.
  • Familiarity with advanced materials systems such as III‑V semiconductors and superconductors.
  • Experience analyzing electrical and physical characterization data and using DOE results to guide process changes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.

Nice-to-have (preferred):

  • Experience with epitaxial growth (MBE, MOCVD) or III‑V heterostructures.
  • Background in superconducting or hybrid semiconductor devices and cryogenic measurements.
  • Familiarity with topological quantum devices or related research areas.
  • Experience with BEOL integration, interconnect technologies, packaging, DOE methodologies, yield analysis, or variability modeling.
  • Experience working in advanced R&D or emerging technology environments.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
