Role Summary
The Technical Program Manager will drive execution of strategic quantum technology development programs from concept through manufacturing readiness. This role coordinates cross-functional teams across device development, process integration, packaging, cryogenic systems, test/characterization, and foundry enablement.
The position interfaces with modality leads, product and manufacturing teams, customers, and executive leadership to manage technical milestones, schedules, risks, dependencies, and customer commitments.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical guidance in the posting: 5+ years of semiconductor/technology or product development experience and 3+ years of technical program or project management experience.
Responsibilities
Principal responsibilities include program leadership, cross-functional coordination, risk and resource management, and executive reporting.
- Lead execution of quantum technology development programs across one or more modalities.
- Create and maintain integrated program plans, schedules, milestones, dependency maps, and resource forecasts.
- Coordinate engineering, manufacturing, operations, supply chain, quality, and business teams to align technical objectives with business and customer deliverables.
- Track and close action items and critical-path issues affecting program execution.
- Identify program risks and resource constraints; develop mitigation plans and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare executive-level dashboards, status reports, and present updates to senior leadership and customers.
- Support customer and partner engagement, milestone reviews, and contractual deliverable tracking.
- Drive readiness activities for development lots, experiments, characterization campaigns, and manufacturing demonstrations.
- Perform work in a safe and compliant manner supporting Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.
Requirements
Must-have technical and program management qualifications are listed below; preferred items are noted separately.
- Must-have: 5+ years of semiconductor manufacturing, technology development, product development, or engineering experience.
- 3+ years of technical program or project management experience, including leading complex cross-functional technical programs.
- Proven ability to manage schedules, milestones, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder communication.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and presentation skills; ability to translate technical information for business audiences.
- Ability to influence and align diverse technical teams without direct authority.
- Nice-to-have / Preferred: PMP, Agile, or equivalent project management certification.
- Experience with semiconductor R&D, foundry operations, advanced packaging, cryogenic electronics, or quantum technologies.
- Familiarity with Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs), NPI methodologies, and manufacturing readiness assessments.
- Experience coordinating customer-funded development programs, government-sponsored projects, or multi-site/international programs.
- Understanding of quantum computing modalities (superconducting, trapped ion, photonic, silicon spin, topological qubits) is advantageous.
Education Requirements
Associates degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
